My name is Olena Klimova, I am Kyiv Senses Tours founder and professional tourist guide raised and based in Kyiv.
The mission of my tours is not only to show the city, the country. It is a small journey in search of the virtuous, life-affirming foundations taking ourselves to the next level.

A person creates two worlds: the dense and the subtle. The dense one is created by hands, and the subtle one by thought.
In art, the subtle world is often portrayed as something terrifying, a cold, misty realm of wandering shadows.The ideas about the astral subtle world of nature are preserved in the folklore depths of the wisdom of the Hutsuls of the Ukrainian Carpathians, masterfully described by Ukrainian writer Mykhailo Kotsyubinsky. In the summer of 1910, while coming back from Italy, the writer visited Carpathian village Kryvorivnya, where he was imbued with the spirit of Hutsuls - the original mountaineers of the Ukrainian Carpathians, who remained heathen fairy-talesmen even in the 20th century. So in the magical captivity of mountain rivers, forest moss and old fir trees was born a wonderfully poetic story "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors".
And in Soviet times, 50 years later this book was read by the film director Sergey Paradjanov and in the Ukrainian Soviet cinema was born a world famous film-masterpiece "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors", filled with priceless authenticity of Ukrainian Carpathians: real Hutsul voices, music, symbols.
I invite you to the author's excursion into the territory of Kyiv Dovzhenko Film Studio, where the legendary film was made. We will dare to touch the ghostly world of SHADOWS, the "zero point" of civilization development.
In the first part of the tour we will visit the territory of the film studio, touch the props, see the memorial places. And in the second part we will dive into the symbolic richness of Ukrainian Carpathian folklore and watch in the cinema the film Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors.

Does this tour require to keep eyes closed all the time?
No, you keep your eyes closed from spots to spots and the rest time walk with eyes open.
How does this work?
How does it work? On a tour, we stop at a certain location, the tourists are blindfolded, and I give them something related to history to touch. Or I ask them to divide into pairs - one blindfolded person and the other open-eyed person must lead them to the location. Then we take off the blindfold mask or scarf, and the guests find themselves in some cozy courtyard, for example. This works as a wow-effect. I also give them some props to touch, then I take them away, and the person opens his or her eyes and has to find a similarly shaped object on the facade of the house. Children especially like this kind of interaction.
What do I require to take with me on a tour?
